Strategic Intelligence Among Heads of Academic Departments at Al-Azhar University and Its Relationship to Improving Their Job Competencies

Abstract

     The research aimed to identify the practices of strategic intelligence among heads of academic departments at Al-Azhar University and their relationship to improving their job competencies, from the point of view of faculty members at Al-Azhar University. The research used a descriptive approach, where a questionnaire was applied to a sample of (421) faculty members at Al-Azhar University. The opinions of the study sample members were surveyed through two axes, the first: strategic intelligence practices among heads of academic departments through a set of dimensions, namely: future vision, organized thinking, partnership, motivation, and the second: job competencies of academic department heads through a set of dimensions. These are administrative competencies, leadership competencies, technological competencies, and personal competencies. The research concluded that the total score for the practices of strategic intelligence for the heads of academic departments at Al-Azhar University is (1.60) and at a weak level, and the total score for the practices of job competencies for the heads of academic departments at Al-Azhar University is (1.74). At a moderate level, the research found that there is a strong and statistically significant direct correlation between the average responses of the sample members to practicing the dimensions of strategic intelligence and the dimensions of job competencies. The study recommended developing criteria for selecting heads of academic departments to ensure their ability to anticipate future events, analyze situations, and solve problems in innovative ways. And ensuring that they practice the dimensions of strategic intelligence.
