Psychological flexibility as a Moderator Variable of the relationship between intolerance of uncertainty and career future anxiety among university graduates

Abstract

        The research aimed to reveal the relationship between intolerance of uncertainty and career future anxiety among university graduates, to know the role of psychological flexibility in modifying the relationship between intolerance of uncertainty and career future anxiety, and to identify the differences among university graduates in study variables according to some demographic variables (gender and Specialization). Participants in the research were (330) from university graduates (75 male, 255 female), their ages ranged between (22-48) with a mean age (26,42) and standard deviation (5.15), the research tools consisted of intolerance of uncertainty scale (translated by the researchers), and scales of professional future anxiety and psychological flexibility (prepared by r the esearchers). The results showed that: there are statistically significant positive correlations between intolerance of uncertainty and career future anxiety  among  participants, there are statistically significant negative correlations between psychological flexibility  and both of intolerance of uncertainty and professional future anxiety, psychological flexibility modify the relationship between intolerance of uncertainty and career future anxiety, the results also showed that: there aren’t statistically significant differences in intolerance of uncertainty and career future anxiety between males and females, while there are statistically significant differences between males and females in the total degree of psychological flexibility and sub-dimensions except the dimensions of acceptance and values, and there aren’t statistically significant differences in study variables according to specialization.
