Abstract

This study aimed to present a proposed vision to enhance the transformation of Saudi public education schools towards schools of the future, by identifying the capabilities available to these schools, the opportunities available in their external environment, in addition to revealing the weaknesses that may lie in these schools, and the challenges that exist in their external environment. To achieve these goals, the researcher used the descriptive survey method. The questionnaire was also used as a tool to collect data to answer the study questions from its sample, which numbered (370) male and female school principals. This study yielded a set of results, the most prominent of which are: Saudi public education schools possess a set of capabilities that can be employed to enhance Transform it towards schools of the future, the most prominent of which are: their students’ adherence to their religious and national identity, their teachers’ familiarity with modern teaching methods and the use of technology, and the availability of an advanced technical infrastructure, in parallel with the existence of a set of weaknesses that may limit their ability to strongly move towards schools of the future, the most prominent of which are: the weak level of administrative independence, the scarcity of training programs, and the weak allocated budget. The results also revealed that the external environment of the study community's schools contains a set of opportunities that can be invested in enhancing their orientation towards schools of the future, the most important of which are: the quest of Vision 2030 to enter the knowledge economy strongly, and the launch of the human capacity development program. The results also revealed the existence of a set of challenges inherent in the external environment of these schools that could hinder Transform it towards schools of the future, the most prominent of which are: organizational obstacles, weak community awareness, and weak funding. In light of these results, the proposed vision for the study was built.
