The trait meta-mood and its relationship to suicidal tendencies among university students

Abstract

The Current Study aimed at Identifying The relationship between trait Meta-mood and suicidal tendencies among University Students, Also, it aimed at detecting the differences in trait Meta-mood  and suicidal tendencies according gender (Male/Female), academic field (scientific/Literary)and type of education (Azhar/General),as well as, Predicting suicidal tendencies used in the current study according trait Meta-mood . The study sample Included(220) university students (110 males/110 Females) aged(19-23)years, and trait Meta-mood scale was applied to them,  (Prepared by The researcher), and suicidal tendencies scale (Prepared by Nora Muhammad Arafa, 2022),The results revealed that there was no relationship between trait Meta-Mood and suicidal tendencies, The results also showed a  no statistically significant differences of the trait Meta-mood  scale and suicidal tendencies scale according to gender; The results also showed that there were statistically significant differences in the trait meta-mood according to specialization (scientific / literary) in the direction of literary specializations. On the other hand, there were no statistically significant differences in suicidal tendencies according to specialization (scientific / literary). The results also indicated that there were no statistically significant differences in trait Meta-mood the according to the type of education (Azhari/General); While there were statistically significant differences in suicidal tendencies according to the type of education (Azhari/General) in the direction of general education students. The results also indicated that the total score for the trait meta-mood did not contribute to predicting the decrease in suicidal tendencies among university students.
