Requirements of Privatization of Public Schools in Light of the Experiences of Independent Schools: A Suggested Proposal

Abstract

This study aimed at identifying the most prominent global experiences in the privatization of public schools in light of independent school style, and identifying the requirements of implementing independent schools, and then presenting a suggested proposal to apply privatization in public schools in light of independent school's experience.      To achieve such objectives, the descriptive survey methodology was used and a questionnaire as  an instrument was utilized among a simple random sample  consisting of (256) female leaders of public schools in Riyadh city. The results of the study revealed that the sample of the study totally agreed concerning the importance of  applying the independent school requirements in public schools. The most important requirements were represented in the preparation of school buildings suitable for teaching and learning processes, the provision of adequate annual budget for each school  based on the number of its students and accomplishments, nominating competent leaders according to precise criteria after qualifying them, adoption of advisory council for leaders to  help them in school management. Finally, a suggested proposal was developed to apply privatization in public schools in light of independent schools experiences.
