Abstract

This research aimed to identify the differences between the both sexes (male - female) in some executive functions (inhibition - planning - memory activation- shifting - initiation - emotional control) among those with hyperactivity accompanied by attention deficit in the primary stage at Al-Azhar institutes. The research sample consisted of (153) male and female students at the primary stage in Al-Azhar institutes, Cairo region totaling (77) males and (76) females. From the Al-Farouq Omar Exemplary Elementary at Al-Azhar institute, and the Four Martyrs Exemplary Elementary at Al-Azhar institute in Nasr City, Those whose ages range between (9-12), with an average age of (9.45), and a standard deviation of (1,164), The instruments of the research included a scale of hyperactivity accompanied by attention deficit, and the scale of the executive functions estimation (prepared by the researchers). The results of the research revealed that there are differences in favor of males in the performance of the function of planning, cognitive flexibility and initiation. While the results of the research revealed differences in favor of females in the performance of the behavioral inhibition, memory activation, emotional control, and the overall degree of executive functions.
