Psychological Immunity and Its Relationship to Religious Orientation and Psychological Problems Resulting from Corona Virus Covid-19 Pandemic among Students of Al-Azhar University in Light of Some Demographic Variables

Abstract

The current research aims to identify the relationship between psychological immunity, religious orientation and psychological problems (psychological loneliness - sleep disorders - eating disorders - depression - psychological distress - obsessive-compulsive disorder - social fears) caused by Coronavirusamong students of Al-Azhar University. And to reveal the differences in psychological immunity, religious orientation and psychological problems caused by Coronavirus, the basic research sample consisted of (400)male and female students of Al-Azhar University with the final teams, they were applied to the psychological immunity scale, the religious orientation scale (the researcher's preparatioand the psychological problems scale (preparation of Al-Feki and Abu Al-Fotouh, 2020), and the results of the research resulted in the existence of a positive, statistically significant correlation at the level of significance (0,01, and 0.05) between the total score of the psychological immunity scale and the total score of the religious orientation scale and between psychological immunity and Intrinsic Religions Orientation. While the relationship was negative between psychological immunity and Extrinsic Religions Orientation. The results also indicated that there is a negative correlation between psychological immunity and the psychological problems caused by Coronavirus. Regarding the significance of the differences, there were statistically significant differences at the level of significance (0.01) in psychological immunity and its sub-dimensions (positive thinking, creativity, problem solving, resilience and psychological hardness, self-control) due to the gender variable and the differences were in the direction of males. There were no statistically significant differences in Religious orientation is attributed to the variable of gender and specialization. while the differences were statistically significant in the variable of residence, and the differences were in the direction of students who are residing in the countryside. The results also resulted in the presence of statistically significant differences at the level of significance (0.01) in the psychological problems caused by Coronavirus due to the gender variable, and the differences were in the direction of females and the variable of specialization, and the differences were in the direction of scientific specialization. While there were no differences in psychological problems attributed to the variable of residence (countryside-Hadar), And finally the results indicated the possibility of predicting psychological immunity through religious orientation.
