A Proposed Vision for the Application of Academic Learning Communities at the Faculties of Education at the University of Shaqra

Abstract

The study aimed to determine the degree of availability of the dimensions of academic learning communities in the Colleges of Education at ShaqraUniversity from the perspective of faculty members, and identify the obstacles it applying, then presenting a suggested proposal through which academic learning communities can be applied in colleges of education. The researcher used a descriptive method and a questionnaire conducted through applying the complete census all the faculty members in three Colleges of Education. The study concluded that the degree of availability of the dimensions of academic learning communities in the Colleges of Education at Shaqra University was a (medium) degree from the perspective of faculty members; the dimension (supportive conditions) came first, followed by the dimension (collective learning and its applications), the dimension (common vision and values) came third, the dimension (supportive leadership) came fourth, and the dimension (common personal practices) came last. The results also showed that the study members approval regarding the obstacles applying the academic learning communities in the Colleges of Education at ShaqraUniversity was (high). The study presented a suggested proposal for applying academic learning communities in the Colleges of Education at ShaqraUniversity.
