The Degree of Mindfulness Contribution to Social Intelligence Among Outstanding Students in King Abdullah II Schools for Excellence

Abstract

The current study aimed to verify the degree of contribution of Mindfulness to social intelligence among outstanding students in King Abdullah II Schools for Excellence in Jordan. To achieve the objectives of the study, the current study was applied to a sample of (301) male and female students at KingAbdullahIISchool for Excellence in Al-Balqa Governorate, and two scales were developed, namely: the Mindfulness scale, and Social Intelligence, and the psychometric properties of the scales were verified. The results of the study indicated a high level of Mindfulness and an average level of social intelligence. The results also showed that Mindfulness explains an amount of (61%). In social intelligence, while the study indicated that there are differences in Mindfulness among some levels, and in light of the current results, some recommendations were made, including the need to work on Mindfulness alertness skills because of their role in improving social intelligence skills. The study also recommended conducting studies that deal with other variables for this category, such as: quality of life, psychological immunity, moral intelligence, or applying the current variables to other categories.
