The Mediating Role of Psychological Empowerment in the Relationship between Optimism as a Trait and Creative Thinking among the Mentally Superior

Abstract

The present research aimed to explain the relationships between optimism as independent variable, psychological empowerment as a mediator variable, and creative thinking measured by originality, fluency and flexibility among the mentally superior as dependent variable. The current research instruments have been administered to (304) students, and they obtain acceptable indicators of validity and reliability. The field research consists of (520) students. Findings revealed that psychological empowerment mediates totally the relationship between optimism and creative thinking (originality, fluency and flexibility) among the mentally superior. The study provided recommendations and research suggestions for responsible stakeholders, parents and researchers.
