The study aimed to shed light on the features of artificial intelligence (AI) in education, to explore the challenges hindering the activation of its applications in the educational process, and to propose solutions from the perspective of male and female teachers in Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah. The study sample comprised 212 teachers, selected using a simple random sampling method. A descriptive survey design was adopted, with a questionnaire serving as the primary data collection instrument for the fieldwork component. The validity and reliability of the questionnaire were confirmed; Pearson’s correlation coefficient was employed to calculate internal consistency, and Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was used to determine reliability. A range of statistical methods, including frequencies, means, standard deviations, and others, in addition to qualitative techniques, were utilized to derive the study findings.
The results revealed that the most significant challenges impeding the integration of AI and its applications in education were insufficient technical training for teachers, followed by students’ lack of access to technological tools, the absence of appropriate preparatory programs, and a shortage of supportive educational resources. Conversely, concern over the potential loss of teaching jobs was found to be among the least influential challenges. As for proposed solutions, providing specialized training programs for teachers ranked first, followed by fostering collaboration between teachers and technology developers, whereas establishing mechanisms for evaluating the effectiveness of AI use ranked last. The study concluded with several recommendations and suggestions within its scope to enhance the effective adoption of AI applications in the educational process.
