Abstract

The study aimed to examine goal orientations and their relationship to compassionate communication among school principals. It also sought to determine whether they differed by gender and level of education. To achieve the study's objectives, a validity and reliability scale was developed for goal orientations and compassionate communication. The scales were applied to a sample of (200) male and female school principals in the Al-Qweismeh District, Amman, for the 2024/2025 academic year. The study used the descriptive, correlational, and analytical approach due to its suitability for the study topic. The results indicate a high level of goal orientations among school principals, with an arithmetic mean of (4.35) and a standard deviation of (0.38). The arithmetic mean values were high across all dimensions of the goal orientation scale among principals, ranging between (4.45-4.18). The results also indicate a high level of compassionate communication across all dimensions among school principals in the Al-Qweismeh District Education Directorate, with the arithmetic mean for the dimensions as a whole reaching (4.36). With a standard deviation of (0.50).
There is a statistically significant positive correlation at the significance level (α=0.05) between goal orientations and compassionate communication. There were no statistically significant differences at the significance level (α=0.05) between the arithmetic means of goal orientations and their overall significance, attributable to the variables of gender and academic qualification.
Based on the results, some recommendations were made, including the need to capitalize on the high level of goal orientations and compassionate communication among principals by the Ministry of Education and the Educational Administration to create an environment conducive to achieving desired goals and developing effective communication between teachers, students, and parents.
