Abstract

This study aimed to identify the reflections of modern technologies on raising children from an Islamic perspective. The study employed the fundamentalist approach and descriptive method. It included a general framework encompassing the study introduction, its problem, questions, objectives, importance, methodology, and previous studies. This was followed by three axes for the theoretical framework. the first axis addressed the conceptual framework of modern technologies, the second axis explored the reflections of modern technologies on child-rearing, while the third axis discussed the foundations of child-rearing on the use of modern technologies according to the Islamic perspective. Additionally, there was an axis for the applied framework, which included the field study, its procedures, results, and interpretation. The questionnaire was used as one of the tools of the descriptive approach, designed by the researcher and presented to a study sample representing some parents from various segments of Egyptian society, with the aim of determining the impact of modern technologies on child-rearing from an Islamic perspective.
The study concluded that modern technologies are a double-edged sword, carrying significant opportunities for development and learning, but at the same time posing major challenges to children's behavior and values. Therefore, the family's role in guiding children towards the optimal use of these technologies is crucial, as these technologies significantly affect all aspects of life, including family upbringing of children, where there is an expansion of knowledge, interactive learning, communication with others, continuous learning, and self and professional development. On the other hand, they raise many challenges that affect children's behavior and values, such as social isolation, exposure to harmful content, difficulty concentrating, and becoming accustomed to excessive use of devices, which leads to a decline in personal interaction between parents and children, as well as difficulty distinguishing between reality and imagination. The results called for the necessity of having controls and guidelines for the use of modern technologies in education to ensure their compatibility with Islamic principles. The study emphasized the family's role in facing these challenges by setting clear rules, promoting continuous monitoring, and establishing good role models and Islamic principles in the hearts of children, which ensures balance, control, and optimal use of time.
