Abstract

In light of the increasing environmental challenges facing the world, it has become imperative to shift towards sustainable development models, foremost among which is the green economy, which is an effective mechanism for achieving sustainable development and preserving environmental resources. Civil society organizations play a pivotal role in this transformation by spreading environmental awareness and promoting a culture of sustainability. Despite the potential of these organizations to influence the behavior of individuals and groups, questions remain about the extent to which they effectively fulfill their environmental responsibilities and their contribution to spreading a green economy culture within local communities. This is a descriptive study. The study adopted a case study approach and utilized a questionnaire survey of 64 members of the board of directors and permanent employees of the Resala Association. The study reached a number of findings, the most important of which is the study community's understanding that the green economy aims to achieve sustainable development while preserving the environment and that the green economy promotes social justice. It also found that the organization has a media presence in promoting environmental issues and the green economy, and its programs have contributed to raising awareness of the principles of the green economy. The most significant challenges were weak cooperation between civil society organizations and government agencies and the lack of information and guidance on the green economy.
