The purpose of this research is to explore the ethical dimensions, security issues, and privacy concerns associated with the use of artificial intelligence (AI) applications in education. The study addresses the challenges that educational institutions face when adopting AI technologies, whether in foreign or Arab universities, while also examining Egypt’s future vision for addressing these challenges. Additionally, the research aims to synthesize current knowledge by critically analyzing the key ethical concerns, security risks, and data privacy issues related to the integration of AI in the educational process. It further sheds light on the research gaps that highlight discrepancies between future aspirations and existing studies in this domain. The findings reveal substantial scholarly interest, organized into several key areas, including the impact of AI applications on teachers, students, curricula, and assessment methods, with numerous positive outcomes reported. The study also explores how security and privacy concerns may limit the educational potential of AI, as well as how ethical considerations could impede the effective use of AI technologies in the educational context. Despite these advancements, gaps remain, particularly in the psychological and social domains, such as ethical values, privacy, and cognitive load. In light of this, the study proposes several potential research avenues as promising opportunities for future exploration, especially within the Arab region and Egypt.
