Abstract

The study aimed to examine the relationship between sexual cyberbullying and the Dark Triad traits (psychopathy, narcissism, and Machiavellianism), identify differences among study participants on the scales of sexual cyberbullying and the Dark Triad according to gender (male/female) and type of education (Al-Azhar/general), and to predict sexual cyberbullying in light of the Dark Triad traits. To achieve these goals, the researchers developed a sexual cyberbullying scale and a Dark Triad scale. The study sample consisted of 300 male and female secondary school students from general and Al-Azhar education systems, aged between 16 and 19 years, with a mean age of 17.5 years and a standard deviation of 0.915. The descriptive method was used.
The results showed a statistically significant positive correlation between sexual cyberbullying and the Dark Triad traits among secondary school students. Additionally, there were statistically significant differences between male and female students on the sexual cyberbullying scale, with males scoring higher. Significant differences were also found in favor of males across all dimensions (psychopathy, narcissism, and Machiavellianism), while no significant differences were observed between students from Al-Azhar and general education. Psychopathy emerged as the strongest predictor of sexual cyberbullying, followed by Machiavellianism to a lesser extent, and finally narcissism. Moreover, all three traits (psychopathy, narcissism, and Machiavellianism) were strong predictors of sexual cyberbullying levels.
