Al-Azhar University's Social Responsibility in Developing its Student Human Resources: A Comparative Field Study

Abstract

The study aimed to identify Al-Azhar University's social responsibility in developing its student population, as one of its most important human resources in the practical and theoretical faculties in Cairo and the regions (Lower and Upper Egypt). This study explored the university's role in supporting student activities, its effectiveness among students, and its role in developing scientific research skills and to enhance the values of citizenship, its role in training students and qualifying them for the labor market, while identifying the obstacles that affect the social responsibility of Al-Azhar University from the point of view of its students. The study relied on the social survey method using the sample method and the comparative method to compare Al-Azhar University students in terms of (gender/sector/type of college).The study relied on the electronic scale as a tool for collecting data from the study sample, which amounted to (400) male and female students from various university colleges (theoretical and practical) in Cairo and the regions. The study reached a number of results, the most important of which is the agreement of the majority of the study sample on the effective role played by the university in developing scientific research skills and to improve their ability to research , read, , develop their ability to think objectively without bias, and study reality and pay attention to contemporary issues, to promote the values of citizenship and belonging by teaching them to adhere to regulations and laws, informing them of their rights and duties, spreading the values of tolerance , acceptance of others, and enhancing students’ ability to be sincere in work.The study also made a number of recommendations in light of the study sample’s responses, the most important of which is the inclusion of the concept of social responsibility, its goals, fields and dimensions in the curricula of all specializations Paying attention to the infrastructure of university institutions to ensure their effectiveness in fulfilling their social responsibilities and enhancing the capabilities of their students, and paying attention to organizing various sports activities for students and holding various sports tournaments due to their role in enhancing their physical, mental and intellectual capabilities and protecting them from harmful behaviors. In addition, it is necessary for universities to develop their training programs periodically in a manner that is compatible with the requirements of the changing and continuous labor market.
