Abstract

This research aimed to conduct an analytical study of the content of primary school science curricula in light of scientific and engineering practices of the next generation of science standards. To achieve this goal, qualitative data were collected using the descriptive approach using a content analysis tool for primary school science books in its three grades and two semesters. The analysis sample consisted of books in light of the next generation science standards in its three dimensions. The study concluded that the percentage of inclusion of these dimensions is low; Where the most common concepts are represented in the content with an inclusion rate of (67.45), and came second after the central ideas with an inclusion rate of (46.37%), and came third after scientific and engineering practices with a low rate of (34). Within the framework of the analysis results, the current research recommends developing science curricula for the primary stage in light of the next generation science standards and including its three dimensions in the academic content.
