The role of Al-Azhar University faculty members in developing digital learning skills among their students.

Abstract

The research aimed to identify the most important roles that a faculty member at Al-Azhar University can play in order to develop digital learning skills among students. The study used the descriptive survey approach, relying on the questionnaire as a tool for collecting data, which was applied to a random sample of (344) faculty members at the Faculties of Education at Al-Azhar University in general educational specializations and educational technology. The degree of importance of the total roles of the faculty member in developing digital learning skills among students came at a significant level from the point of view of the study sample. There was also a difference in the degree of their importance in terms of their relative weights, as the most important role from the study sample was "providing a simulation model to train students on how to search digitally using search engines", and the second most important role came in "encouraging students to publish their distinguished works electronically through various digital platforms". The study presented a set of recommendations that could contribute to enhancing and activating the role of faculty members in developing digital learning skills among students, including the necessity of digital empowerment among faculty members and developing their digital competencies through specialized training programs and workshops related to employing and using digital technologies in teaching and learning processes, such as those related to developing skills in dealing with digital teaching and learning platforms, employing digital artificial intelligence tools, and benefiting from digital learning sources and resources available online.
