The Reality of Life Effectiveness Skills among Special Education and Their Relationship with Psychological Vitality

Abstract

 This study aimed to identify the reality of life effectiveness skills among special education teachers in Gharbyia Governorate and their relationship with psychological vitality. The study also explored whether life effectiveness skills will predicate psychological vitality. The pilot study sample consisted of 20 special education teachers, both male and female, to verify the instruments' psychometric characteristics. The main sample included 116 teachers of both genders. The survey descriptive research method was utilized to achieve the study's objective. The researchers designed and utilized two instruments for life effectiveness skills and psychological vitality. Data analysis indicated that life effectiveness skills and psychological vitality were high among the study participants. There was also statistically significant positive correlation between life effectiveness skills and psychological vitality. In addition, Self-vitality could be predicted by only four of the eight skills studied for life effectiveness skills (social competence, achievement motivation, emotions control, and the total score of life effectiveness skills).  Particularly, the most studied variables contributing to predicting the total score of psychological vitality among special education teachers in Gharbyia Governorate were the skills of emotions control, achievement motivation, and social competence, respectively. The results also revealed statistically significant differences in life effectiveness skills due to the variables of scientific qualification and years of experience. Specifically, teachers with postgraduate qualifications and those with more than 10 years of experience demonstrated greater life effectiveness skills. Finally, there were statistically significant differences in psychological vitality due to the variables of scientific qualification and years of experience. Exactly, teachers with master's degrees and those with more than 10 years of experience demonstrated greater psychological vitality.
