Abstract

compare family resilience among families of individuals with disabilities and their peers without disabilities, in addition to investigating the relationship between family resilience and a number of variables (economic level, respondent, age of respondent). The sample consisted of (146) participants: (102) from families of individuals with disabilities, and (42) participants from families of individuals without disabilities. To achieve the study's objectives, a family resilience scale was developed, and its psychometric properties were verified. The study followed a comparative descriptive survey methodology. The results showed that the level of family resilience for families of individuals with disabilities was high, with a mean of (3.96). The same was true for families of individuals without disabilities, with a mean of (3.99). The most elevated and influential factor was family spirituality for both groups. The results also revealed no statistically significant differences in the level of family resilience (as a total score and as sub-dimensions: family communication and problem-solving, use of social and economic resources, family spirituality) between families of individuals with disabilities and families of individuals without disabilities, attributable to the variable of having a family member with a disability. Additionally, there were no statistically significant differences in the level of resilience (as a total score and as sub-dimensions: family communication and problem-solving, use of social and economic resources, family spirituality) among families of individuals with disabilities and families of individuals without disabilities attributable to the variables of (economic level, respondent, age of respondent).
