Abstract

Objectives: The study aimed to determine the degree to which Islamic education books for the secondary stage in the State of Kuwait include the values of work and productivity. Methodology: The study followed the descriptive analytical approach, where the content of the Islamic education books for secondary school grades was analyzed. An analysis card was designed, and the idea was adopted as the unit of analysis. Results: The results showed that the most frequent occurrences were in the field of «importance of work», which received (40) repetitions in the three books. The field of «achievement at work» came in second place, which received (27) repetitions. The field of «loyalty and belonging to work» came in third place and it got (26) repetitions, and the field of «system in action» came in last place and received (17) repetitions. The results also showed that the twelfth-grade textbook was the most inclusive of work values in general (65 repetitions), followed by the eleventh-grade textbook (23 repetitions), then the tenth-grade textbook (22 repetitions). The percentage of including work values in the textbooks for the three grades was (0.058). Conclusion: The study strongly advises the incorporation of work values into curricula, emphasizing the significance of ensuring an adequate quantity, comprehensiveness, and coherence of these values. Furthermore, it advocates for the realignment of curricula content in accordance with the "Kuwait Vision 2035" framework. Crucially, the explicit integration of work values is recommended.
