Abstract

The current study aimed at identifying the effectiveness of a cognitive behavioral program for social casework in alleviating smartphone addiction among a sample of university students. This study estimates the effect of professional intervention. The quasi-experimental method was utilized. The pre- and post- measurements were administered to both experimental and control groups. Each group comprised (10) subjects. The professional intervention was delivered to the experimental group members only. Results indicated that there were statistically significant differences between the mean scores obtained by the experimental and control groups on the post-test of smartphone addiction, in favor of the experimental group. This indicates the effectiveness of a cognitive behavioral program for social casework in alleviating smartphone addiction among university students.
