The Values included in The Great Expectations Novel for Al-Azhar Third Grade Secondary Stage Students (Analytical Study)

Abstract

The research aimed to identify the values included in The Great Expectations Novel for Al-Azhar Third Grade Secondary Stage Students. The research used the descriptive method, using one of its approaches “content analysis method”, the most important results of the research were: The number of the values included in the Great Expectations novel for Al-Azhar third grade secondary stage students reached (199) values, distributed over (7) fields, namely: social, moral, economic, cultural, aesthetic, health, and national values, the repetition of social values held the highest rank with total repetitions (108), and by (54.27%), while the repetitions of both aesthetic, health and national values held the same last ranks with total repetitions (8) and by (4.02%). The research recommended the need to select literary works commensurate with Islamic values, principles, and Al-Azhar ethics. Moreover, literary works were to be suitable for the age stage in which it is taught, in addition to the importance of linking literary works with Islamic values and teachings to motivate students so as to understand religious and literary heritage.
