Abstract

            The objective of the present research is to identify the nature of the relationship between family functioning and depression among addicted and non-addicted adolescents. The research sample consisted of 130 adolescent addicts from the following governorates: Cairo-Giza-Ismailia-Port Said, hospitals of the Fund for the Prevention and Treatment of Addiction and of these hospitals (Hyxtb Psychiatry - Ismailia National Center - Al-Azimah Rehabilitation Center at Bur Fouad Port Said _ Abasia Psychiatric Hospitals) With the Ministry of Health Hospitals (Hedi Psychiatry and Addiction Treatment Centre) after approval by the implementing authorities, and (134) Non-addicted adolescent from across the Arab Republic of Egypt ranging in age from (18-21) With an average age of (19.45), a standard deviation of (1.114), the research used the descriptive approach because it is best suited to current research, and the research identifies the following tools: The data collection form "Preparation of the researcher", Family Performance Measure (Olsson et al., 2006) Translation of the researcher, Beck Depression Scale Translation "Abdul star Ibrahim", and the results found a statistically significant correlation between functional performance and depression in addicted and non-addicted adolescents.
