The relative contribution of dark triad personality traits in predicting psychological security a sample of female students at King Khalid University in Saudi Arabia

Abstract

The aim of the current research is to determine the relative contribution of the dark triad traits of personality in predicting psychological security among a sample of female students at King Khalid University in Saudi Arabia, and to reveal the nature of the correlation between the dark triad traits of personality and the feeling of psychological security, and to reveal the extent of variation in the dark triad of personality and psychological security in light of the variable place of residence. (Village/city), and the sample consisted of (110) female students from the College of Education at King Khalid University, and the research tools were applied to them, which are the Psychological Security Scale (prepared by Al-Shakhaibi and Al-Jizani, 2020) and the Dark Triad Personality Scale (prepared by Jones, D. & Paulhus, D., 2013), and the research relied on the descriptive, correlational and differential approach to suit the nature of this research. The results showed that there is a positive, statistically significant correlation between psychological security and the traits of Machiavellianism and narcissism, while there is no relationship between psychological security and the trait of psychopathy, and there are no statistically significant differences in the variables (psychological security and the dark triad of personality) due to place of residence, and that psychological security can be predicted by The trait of narcissism in its healthy form among female students at King Khalid University, where positive feelings towards others  reflect their sense of psychological security that all Saudi people  enjoy. The study recommended the importance of educating specialists about providing preventive psychological services to university students to continue to maintain their positive personality traits.
