Abstract

Life skills are one of the most important skills that a person needs in his life. Through them, the individual learns how to deal with all the different changes and events that he encounters in his life. Moreover, if the individual learns and masters the various life skills, then this will benefit him and his society. This study aimed at exploring the Islamic rooting of some life skills that were embodied in (problem-solving skill, critical thinking skill, teamwork skill, time management skill, crisis management skill, the skill of dealing with recent technologies, consumption rationalization skill, and work and production skill). The study adopted the fundamentalist approach, the descriptive approach, and the semi-experimental design. Results of the study revealed that the life skills concept is one of the flexible and constantly renewed concepts, due to its connection to the reality of the individual and the changes that occur to him. Also, the results showed that life skills have many different characteristics and classifications. It also concluded that the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH) have been the origin of these life skills, whether directly or indirectly. Furthermore, the results indicated that there was a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the experimental group students in the pre and post administration in the level of the life skills awareness in favor of the post administration, there was a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the experimental group students and the control group students in the post- administration in the level of the life skills awareness in favor of the experimental group, and there was no a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the experimental group students in the post and follow-up measurements in the level of the life skills awareness.
