The Role of Academic Leaders in the Localization of Training at Saudi Universities, According to Saudi Vision 2030

Abstract

The present research aimed to investigate the role of academic leaders at Saudi universities in dealing with modern variables, in the light of Vision 2030, for the localization of training. The research sample consisted of (370) faculty members from four Saudi universities (Hafar Al Batin University – University of Jeddah – Northern Border University – Shaqra University). The researcher adopted the analytical descriptive approach as the research methodology, and data was collected using a questionnaires designed by the researcher. The study obtained several findings, including the following: "The organizational role of academic leaders in the localization of training at Saudi universities" ranked first with a (high) degree; "The technical role of academic leaders in the localization of training at Saudi universities" ranked second with a (moderate) degree; there are statistically significant differences at the significance level of (0.05) among sample members' opinions on the questionnaire's as a whole, as regards the gender variable, in the favor of males; and no statistically significant differences at the significance level of (0.05) were found among sample members' opinions on the questionnaire's as a whole, as regards the variables (years of experience – university of affiliation). The researcher presented a number of recommendations, include the following: the necessity of ensuring the effectiveness of training programs provided to faculty members at Saudi universities and continuously improving them; the necessity of universities' commitment to providing integrated information databases on all aspects of professional growth for faculty members.
