Abstract

This study aimed at: Knowing the effectiveness of a proposed program based on some metacognitive strategies in developing the story writing skills and creative thinking of talented secondary school students. To achieve this, the study problem was identified in the following main question: (What is the effectiveness of using some metacognitive strategies in developing story writing skills and creative thinking among talented secondary school students?).
The experimental method was used, and the study sample consisted of (40) students, which were divided equally into two groups: experimental and control. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher prepared a list of story writing and creative thinking skills, an achievement test, a guide for the teacher, and a book for the student, and after checking the validity and stability of the tools, then applying them before and after on the two study groups, the data was analyzed using the t-test. The study reached the following results: There are statistically significant differences at the level (≥ 0, 05) between the mean scores of the students of the two groups, experimental and control, in the test of story writing skills and creative thinking in favor of the experimental group. The study recommended paying attention to students' practice of some metacognitive strategies, and conducting more research using them.
