Abstract

The study aimed to reveal the reality of the role played by the faculties of education in Egyptian universities in developing the career and life skills of their students in the light of labour market requirements. The career and life skills were: flexibility and adaptation, initiative and self-direction, and multicultural social interaction. The study used the descriptive approach, relying on the questionnaire that was presented to a random sample of (407) male and female students from the third and fourth years in the faculties of education. The degree of availability of the role of the colleges of education in developing the career and life skills of their students in the light of the requirements of the labour market came at an available level from the point of view of the study sample. There is also a variation in the degree of availability of the role of the colleges of education in developing the career and life skills of their students, as the multicultural social interaction axis came in the first place, followed by the initiative and self-direction axis in the second place, followed by the axis of flexibility and adaptation. Accordingly, the study presented a set of recommendations that could contribute to strengthening the role of colleges of education in developing career and life skills.
