The family environment and its relationship with the social competence of students with learning disabilities

Abstract

The research aimed to identify the level of family environment and social competence among students with learning Disabilities, as well as to reveal the relationship between the family environment and social competence, to predict social competence through the family environment, and to detect differences between males and females in the family environment and social competence. The research sample consisted of (120) male and female students with learning Disabilities, whose ages ranged between (13-15) years in Taif schools, and the research used the scale for diagnosing learning Disabilities prepared by: Fathi Al-Zayyat (2007), and the two scales: family environment and social competence, which were (prepared by the researcher) The results of the research questions revealed that the level of family environment and social competence among students with learning Disabilities was average, as well as the existence of a statistically significant correlation between some dimensions of family environment and social competence, and the results also revealed the possibility of predicting social competence through the dimensions of family environment, and finally there is no Statistically significant differences between males and females in the family environment and its studied dimensions, and the results were discussed and some recommendations and future research were suggested.
