Abstract

The current study aimed to identify the reality of gender-based digital violence among Egyptian female university students according to Pierre Bourdieu's theory, and to provide several proposed mechanisms through which this phenomenon can be confronted before it worsens in the Egyptian society. The study used the descriptive method, using a questionnaire. Data were gathered from  712 female students enrolled in the  Egyptian public universities in the  sectors of Cairo, North Egypt, Delta, and Upper Egypt universities. The  study found that the level of violence and digital abuse, against female  Students in Egyptian universities, were average through the dimensions of  Pierre Bourdieu's theory of violence, especially the dimensions of value denial and  psychological alienation. The study also found that there were  statistically significant differences for the variable (residence) for female  Students living in cities according to the dimension of the declared hostile  expression, and there were statistically significant differences according to  the variable (university) for female students in Cairo universities  as well as the existence of statistically significant difference according to the variable (economic level of the family), and that for students from low-income families. The study presented a proposed vision  to confront the phenomenon of gender-based digital violence among  Egyptian female university students.
