Abstract

This study aimed at identifying differences in some habits of mind among pupils with developmental learning disabilities and their normal peers at the first cycle of basic education. The sample comprised (100) 2nd grade pupils.  Of these, 50 pupils with developmental learning disabilities and 50 ones were normal peers. They were recruited from (5) primary schools in Shebeen El-Qanater, Qalyubia. The administered study tools were: Quick neurological screening test (standardized by Kamel, 1989), Michael Best's learning Disabilities detection scale (standardized by El-shereif), Habits of mind scale (prepared by the researcher). Results indicated that there were statistically significant differences in total score of habits of mind in favor of the normal pupils. There were statistically significant gender differences in total score of habits of mind in favor of the females. These results were discussed in light of the related psychological literatures and previous studies. Then some recommendations and suggestions for further research were provided.
