Abstract

This research aimed to reveal the effectiveness of a proposed strategy based on text standards in developing rhetorical taste skills and emotional intelligence in literary texts among the second year students of Al-Azhar secondary school. To achieve the objectives of the research, the researcher made use of the experimental method, and select a random sample consisting of (29) students from the second year secondary stage students of Al-Azhar, who were enrolled in the Al-Dakhla Educational Administration of Al-Azhar. They were randomly divided into two equal groups; one of them was experimental group (totaling 15 students) who studied using the proposed strategy, and the control group (totaling 15 students) who studied using the usual method. Both the research instruments, namely the test of rhetorical taste skills, and the emotional intelligence scale in literary texts were administered. The results of the research indicated that there were statistically significant differences at (0.05) level between the mean ranks of the experimental and control groups, in the post-measurement of the skills test and the rhetorical taste and emotional intelligence scale in literary texts in favor of the experimental group students. The results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed strategy based on text-based standards in developing rhetorical taste skills and emotional intelligence in literary texts. The research recommended the necessity of adopting modern teaching strategies based on modern linguistic trends and approaches in developing rhetorical taste skills and emotional intelligence among Al-Azhar secondary school students.
