Irrational Thoughts and Prejudice Attitudes among Students of the Faculty of Education, Al-Azhar University in Light of Academic Specialization

Abstract

The current research aimed to identify the differences in irrational thoughts and prejudice attitudes, as well as to identify whether there is a difference in the factor structure or not among students of the Faculty of Education, Al-Azhar University in irrational thoughts and prejudice attitudes according to academic specialization (special education- psychology). Three hundred fifty students participated in the research (200) students, (100 Special Education Department, 100 Psychology Department), whose ages ranged between (18-20) years, (M = 18.93 years), (S.D = 0.616 years). The research followed the descriptive approach, and two scales of irrational thoughts and prejudice attitudes were used, both of which were developed by the researchers. The results of the research indicated that: There were no statistically significant differences in irrational thoughts among participants from special education and psychology departments according to academic specialization. There were also statistically significant differences in prejudice attitudes among participants according to academic specialization in the direction of students of the Special Education department. Moreover, the factor structure does not differ in irrational thoughts and prejudice attitudes among participants from special education and psychology departments in light of academic specialization.
