Abstract

The current research aimed at developing a scale of mindfulness for the parents of children with autism spectrum disorder and verifying its psychometric characteristics. After reviewing the educational research in the field of mindfulness, the researcher developed the scale of mindfulness for parents of children with autism spectrum disorder. The researcher divided the scale into four dimensions: First: awareness, second: acceptance without judgment, third: description, fourth: open-mindedness to the new. The study sample consisted of (100) fathers and mothers of children with autism spectrum disorder who are enrolled in the schools of intellectual education and special centers in Beheira Governorate. The results of the research concluded that the mindfulness scale for the parents of children with autism spectrum disorder has good psychometric properties in terms of validity and reliability after applying it to the research sample of the parents of children with autism spectrum disorder. Thus, the scale was formed to be a valid tool for using to achieve the goals for which it was set.
