Pragmatic Language Disorder among Autistic Children in Light of Some Demographic Variables

Abstract

This research aimed to identify the differences in pragmatic language disorder among autistic children in light of age, gender (male- female), mother’s educational level and autism spectrum disorder level, participants of the study were (55) autistic children, (30) males, (25) females. The study used pragmatic language disorder scale (prepared by Abdulaziz Alshakhs), and (Gilliam Autism Rating Scale translated and codified by Adel Abdalla,). The results of the study indicated that there were statistically significant differences in pragmatic language disorder according to age (6,7-8,9) years in favor of the young aged children (8,9 years). There were also statistically significant differences in pragmatic language disorder according to  mother’s educational level in favor  of illiterate mothers. The study indicated that there was no difference of statistical significant in pragmatic language disorder between males and females. Finally, there were also statistically significant difference in pragmatic language disorder according to autistic children level in favor of severe autism.
