Development Obstacles of Lifelong Learning Culture among Students in Egypt's Colleges of Education: A Field Study

Abstract

The main objective of the current study was to identify obstacles to Egypt's education faculties' role in the development of a lifelong learning culture among their students. In order to meet such an end, the study used the descriptive approach, and a questionnaire was used as an instrument was completed by a representative sample of students from the faculties of education in Egypt, consisting of (2511) male and female students. The field study which tackled the obstacles of the development of lifelong learning culture among students in Egypt's colleges of education revealed that the degree of availability of all the obstacles preventing colleges of education from playing their role in the development of a culture of lifelong learning at an "average" level from the viewpoint of the sample study with a mean of 2.35. The results also showed statistically significant differences in the sample responses to the constraints of developing a lifelong learning culture among students in Egypt's colleges of education, by gender, in favor of males. The results have also shown that there were no statistically significant differences at a significant level of (0.05) in the responses of sample members to the obstacles of the development of a lifelong learning culture among students in Egypt's colleges of education, depending on the type of specialization, division, and type of education.
