Digital Empowerment Requirements of Faculty Members in the Egyptian Universities from the Viewpoints of Education Experts

Abstract

This research aimed to propose a list of requirements necessary for the digital empowerment of faculty members from the viewpoints of education experts, by reviewing the concept of digital empowerment, its philosophy, its importance, and its current justifications. It also discussed the roles of faculty members in light of digital transformation, which requires their digital empowerment. The research used the descriptive approach through a questionnaire that was administered to (47) experts in the field of education and digital transformation, in order to identify their viewpoints on the importance of these requirements. These requirements were represented in six dimensions, namely, requirements for awareness of digital culture, requirements related to the digital enabling environment, requirements related to teaching and learning, requirements related to scientific research and communication, requirements related to digital resources, and requirements related to student empowerment. Such dimensions were represented in the 75 words were presented to education experts, it showed that the overall results of the identification were of great importance to all dimensions from the viewpoints of experts. In light of the research results, the researcher developed a list of the most important requirements for digital empowerment needed for faculty members from the viewpoints of experts.
