The impact of Organizational Ingenuity on Developing the Twenty-first century Skills among Faculty Members in Saudi Universities

Abstract

The study aims to identify the impact of organizational ingenuity on developing twenty-first century skills among faculty members in Saudi universities. The study adopts a descriptive correlational method, and employs questionnaire as a tool for data collection. The questionnaire consists of 42 items divided into two main sections. The first section (12 items) measures organizational ingenuity with two sub-dimensions (exploration and exploitation). The second section (30 items) measures the 21st century skills and their sub-dimensions (Thinking and innovation, digital culture, life and profession).  The sample comprises (370) faculty members from the following universities: (King Abdul-Aziz, Umm Al- Qura, Taiba, and Al-Baha). The findings of this study indicate that practicing organizational ingenuity in Saudi universities is high and the level of availability of twenty-first century skills among faculty members is high, too. In addition, the results revealed a positive impact of organizational ingenuity on development of the twenty-first century skills among faculty members in Saudi universities, and that exploitation has a stronger impact than exploratory ingenuity in developing the twenty-first century skills.
