Abstract

The current research aims to reveal the use of the SWOM strategy in developing the systemic thinking skills in mathematics among the first year preparatory pupils of Al-Azhar. The method is quasi-experimental, and a random sample of students in the first year of middle school was chosen, which was represented in two groups, one of them was an experimental group of (30) pupils who studied the "Geometry and Measurement" unit of the mathematics course in the first year of middle school (second semester) using the SWOM strategy, and a control group numbered (30) pupils studied the same unit in the traditional method, and the search tool was applied before and after on the two groups, the data were analyzed, and the results revealed the effectiveness of using the SWOM strategy in developing systemic thinking skills in mathematics for first graders of Al-Azhar middle school.   Among the recommendations recommended by the current research are the following: Providing the mathematics curricula in the preparatory stage, with a variety of activities so as to make the pupils the focus of the educational process ,Holding in-service training courses for mathematics teachers to train them on how To organize activities based on developing, And training mathematics teachers during the service to employ and use modern teaching strategies that contribute effectively to the development of thinking skills of different types among pupils at different stages of education, and among these strategies is the “SUM” strategy.
