Predicting of reading self-efficacy through language communication skills among students of the first cycle of basic education

Abstract

The current research aimed to predict reading self-efficacy through language communication skills, and to identify the relationship between the level of dimensions of reading self-efficacy (high - low) and language communication skills in (listening, speaking, reading and writing) among students of the first cycle of basic education, and the research sample consisted of ( 82) students among the fifth grade students in Saud Al-Bahriya Primary School and Al-Fouli Primary School affiliated to Al-Hussainiya Educational Administration in Al-Sharqiya Governorate. The research tools consisted of a reading self-efficacy scale and a test of language communication skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing. The results of the research revealed a strong positive relationship between Dimensions of high reading self-efficacy and language communication skills, and a strong negative relationship between low reading self-efficacy dimensions and language communication skills. The results also resulted in predicting reading self-efficacy through language communication skills.
