The Effectiveness of Cognitive Trips via the Web in Developing Conceptual Comprehension and Divergent Thinking in the Jurisprudence Course for First Year Secondary Stage Students

Abstract

The aim of the current research is to investigate the effectiveness of the WebQuest  in developing conceptual understanding and divergent thinking skills in the Jurisprudence course for the first year secondary school students in Makkah Al-Mukarramah. The sample of the research consisted of (64) female students of the second intermediate grade in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, an experimental group consisting of (32) A female student studied using WebQuest , and a control group consisted of (32) female students who studied in the usual way. The quasi-experimental research method was used to achieve the goals of the research, and to prepare its materials and tools, namely the student booklet prepared according to WebQuest, and the teacher's guide, test conceptual understanding, and test branched thinking skills. The results of the research showed that there is a statistically significant difference at the level (0,05) between the mean scores of the experimental group pupils who studied the selected unit using WebQuest, and the degrees of the pupils of the control group who studied the same unit in the usual  way in the post-application testing of the conceptual understanding as a whole and in each of his skills is in favor of experimental group pupils, and there is a statistically significant difference at the level of (0.05) between the mean scores of the experimental group pupils who studied the selected unit using WebQuest, and the grades of the control group pupils who studied the same unit in the usual way in post administration of test divergent thinking skills as a whole and in each of the skills for the benefit of experimental group students, the research ended with a set of recommendations, the most important of which are reformulating and organizing some units of jurisprudence curricula in the first year secondary school students to the strategy of WebQuest, training  jurisprudence teachers in middle schools on how to Teaching using WebQuest.
