A proposed vision for developing the Management of Postgraduate Studies Programs in the light of Organizational Innovation models

Abstract

The study aimed to define concept of organizational innovation, identifying the types of organizational innovation related to postgraduate studies programs, and presenting the most used models of organizational innovation that are applicable in higher education institutions, and revealing the reality of the management of postgraduate studies in colleges of education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia using the SWOT analysis in order to reach a proposed vision for developing the management of postgraduate studies programs in Saudi universities in the light of organizational innovation models. To achieve these objectives, the analytical descriptive method is used to achieve these objectives, review literature, studies and researches regarding organizational innovation and its models related to the management of postgraduate programs in colleges of education through an analysis of their contents. The study findings revealed that organizational innovation is an organizational ability directed to make innovative changes that may involve (new management practices, the development of innovative technology, creating opportunities with others organisation or stakeholders or developing distinguished services) in order to improve performance efficiency and maintain a competitive position for organization, there are practical models of organizational innovation; it is appropriate to use them to develop performance and reach the goals efficiency. The proposed vision would support organizational innovation practices and achieve development for the management of postgraduate programs. The study concluded with number of recommendations; the most important of which are: the establishment of an independent innovation unit in each academic department in college of education, the importance to build measures to measure organizational innovation practices in the management of educational postgraduate studies programs. Paying attention from the leaders on all levels to organizational innovation. Also, support faculty in higher education institutions to better understand how to adopt and utilizes organizational innovation, and continuous training on innovation tools and measures to support organizational innovation practices.
