A Suggested Proposal for Green Education Policies and Programs in Egypt in Light of Some Arab and International Models

Abstract

Green education is considered one of the modern concepts that express a type of education that serves the environmental field; most countries of the world have taken an interest in this concept in light of caring for the environment and striving towards sustainable development. It is also one of the new models for high-quality education, which is concerned with providing an attractive natural environment in terms of designing school buildings, green spaces, and promoting environmentally friendly activities. The current study aimed to present a proposed vision for green education policies and programs in Egypt in the light of some Arab and international models. The study used the descriptive approach, and reached a set of conclusions, the most important of which are: The need to launch national programs for the transition towards green education according to a specific time plan, and to coordinate between all ministries and authorities concerned with sustainable development. in addition to that supporting companies and non-governmental organizations to experiment with green education. The study presented a proposed vision for green education policies and programs in Egypt in the light of some Arab and international models according to a number of themes. The most important of which were: legislative and political reform that paves the way for the transition towards green education and the dissemination of a culture of green education and the establishment of a national organization that supports the transition towards green education in Egypt. The implementation of national programs to popularize Green education experience in schools and universities.
