Abstract

This study aimed at identifying the effect ofusing concept map strategy in developing grammar skills with a learning effect remain with the 3rd high school female students. Using a quasi-experimental approach, a sample of (64) female students were selected randomly which was divided into two groups: experimental (33) and control (31). The experimental group was taught the grammar skills by using the concept map strategy while the control group was taught in the ordinary method. However, a checklist of grammar skills and a test were designed by the researcher to test the level of development for those skills. Then, a number of statistical techniques were used to analyse the data such as t-Test, Standard Deviation, Effect Size, etc.  Based on data analysis, the study revealed the following findings:  There were significant statistical differences at the level of α) ≤ 0.05) among the means of the experimental group's degrees in the grammar skills in both pre- and post-tests in favor of the post-test.  There were significant statistical differences at the level of α) ≤ 0.05) among the means of both experimental and control groups' degrees in the grammar skills in the post-test in favor of the experimental group.  There were significant statistical differences at the level of α) ≤ 0.05) among the means of the experimental group's degrees in the grammar skills in both post- and following-up tests in favor of the following-up one.  Thus, those findings indicated that the concept map strategy was effective in developing the grammar skills with a learning effect remain with the 3rd high school female students.  Based on the findings of the study, a number of recommendations were introduced by the researcher such as: a) paying attention for developing the grammar skills when teaching grammar courses and considering them as one of the main objectives of teaching the courses; b) training female teachers on using effective modern teaching skills that help in developing the students' grammar skills; c) calling the related officials at the ministry to pay attention for developing the grammar courses and re-organizing their content materials to cope with using strategies to achieve learning in general and concept map strategies in particular.
