Problems of Educational Loss Exacerbation in Secondary Education in Light of (Covid-19) Pandemic and Suggestions of Treatment in the State of Kuwait from the Viewpoints of Students, Teachers and Supervisors

Abstract

         The present study aimed to identify the problems of exacerbating educational loss in light of the pandemic (Covid-19) and present some proposals of treatment to reduce educational loss in secondary education in the State of Kuwait from the viewpoints of students, teachers and supervisors. The study made use of the descriptive approach to develop a questionnaire concerning the problems of exacerbating educational losses in light of (Covid-19) pandemic. The questionnaire consists of four dimensions related to (the educational administration, teacher, learner, and the curriculum), and (65) sub-items, and it was administered to a sample consisting of (145) teachers and supervisors who were randomly selected from all governorates of the State of Kuwait, and (266) female students from Al-FarwaniyahSecondary School for Girls. The data was analyzed using (SPSS), and a number of results were revealed. The most severe problems that exacerbate educational losses in the secondary education system in the State of Kuwait were the absence of school administration interest in activities and students' psychological conditions, and teachers' negativity towards blended education and its ineffectiveness. Furthermore, there were no integrative relationship (between the teacher and the parents). Moreover, there was clear absence of interaction in the learning environment that would raise students’ response to learning, and that some curricula need practical applications that the current educational system lacks, and that the content of some of them needs a comprehensive change because it does not keep pace with developments, facts and ongoing events in the world, and does not help the teacher to innovate. The study also provided some proposals to reduce educational losses, the most important of which are activating blended education, providing mixed models of education, including programs to support language learning, supporting teaching and summer education, and implementing programs after the official school hours.
