New Formations of Ceramic Vessels Inspired by the Aesthetics of Islamic Architecture among Students of Art Education at Al-Azhar University

Abstract

If we talk about the most important aspects of Islamic architecture and the arts that dated it, we find ceramic art at the forefront of these arts in which the Muslim artist excelled. We find it is one of the most important of them at all, as we find it is one of the first artistic crafts practised by the Arab artist since its relations with Islam was consolidated in various Arab countries because ceramics achieved the idea of ​​Islamic civilization in multiple aspects. Thus, the researcher follows the problem of research that the goal of teaching the aesthetics of Islamic architecture is reviving historical memory and refelcting the past and its achievements, as well as searching for a future formula for these arts based on modernization in line with the development of life and the development of its enormous means. Through the researcher’s work in the Department of Art Education _ Al-Azhar University in the specialization of ceramics, and his attendance with many teachers of such a major, he noticed that the field of ceramic design and formation needs new values ​​and methods inspired by Islamic architecture which are rich in its items and worthy for study and research. Through a study of some architectural elements such as minarets, domes, muqarnas, porticos, and plant motifs that deorate the mosques’ sides, designs was imitated and employed in the creation of ceramic vessels through students’ experiments (before - after).
