The Effectiveness of a Counseling Program in Reducing Alexithymia among Corona Recoverees in Karak Governorate

Abstract

The current study aimed to identify the effectiveness of a counseling program in reducing alexithymia.To meet such end, the study was administered to a sample consisting of (72 individual) recoveredfrom corona, and a quasi-experimental sample (totaling 24) recovering from corona were divided randomly into two groups: experimental group (12) and a control onewho were not subject to any instructional intervention.Thealexithymia scale was developed, and an instructional program consisting of (16) sessions was prepared.The results showed that there were statistically significant differences between the ranks of the members of the experimental group and the control one on the alexithymia scale after the implementation of the program in favor of the experimental group whose alexithymia improved.The results showed that there were no statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the members of the experimental group on the Alexithymia scale between the post and followed administration.The researcher recommended a set of recommendations, the most prominent of which is use the current counseling program to help recovered Corona patients reduce alexithymia.
