Abstract

The study aimed to identify technical supervision in Egypt and Singapore to reveal the status-quo of technical supervision, its objectives, tasks of the technical supervisor, and criteria for his selection, and to find out the similarities and differences between Egypt and Singapore in technical supervision with the aim of developing supervision in public secondary schools in Egypt. The study made use of the comparative method. The results revealed that Singapore requires training the technical supervisors in a practical way before practicing supervisory work in schools, and Singapore precedes Egypt in activating electronic supervision in schools where there is a good technological infrastructure in schools as internet networks. Singapore also has an improved performance management system that aims to develop the performance of supervisors and teachers. The study recommended the necessity of updating the criteria for selecting technical supervisors and applying modern supervisory types such as electronic supervision and performance-based supervision in light of the benefit from supervision in Singapore.
